PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN

This program allows the student the opportunity to gain advanced standing credit in a licensed practical nurse program. It also teaches students the methods of drawing blood and practices different techniques of collecting blood from patients and donors. Students are taught the following procedures: communication networks with the physician; patient and laboratory within health care settings; proper disposal of contaminated materials; quality assurance; review of patient rights; safety toward specimens; and types of isolation.
